Our Success Is Dependent On Your Success

Vivid Marketing & Design Story

In The Beginning

Ironically I was watching the movie What Women Want, with Mel Gibson. He was creating ads that spoke to the audience and influenced how they felt about products. I vividly remember thinking to myself how amazing that would be. Growing up in the 90’s was definitely the best time to be a kid. Growing up in a small community in the middle of nowhere was an interesting experience, but also an excellent opportunity to really become creative and find joy in the smallest and largest things!

Growing Up In A Family Owned Business

My family relocated from a small town in Idaho to Whitefish Montana when I was 16 years old, My parents purchased the Subway stores in the Flathead Valley and in Whitefish. I grew up as a small business owners kid. Working for them, creating all their ads and also being invested so personally in the success of their business helped shape my desire to help all small businesses succeed. During a live radio broadcast in Kalispell when I was 16, I got my first real taste of what a successful ad creation can do for a small business.

Education

After a few major changes and a few college changes I finally landed on my passion. I’m a proud graduate of the University of Montana with a Bachelors in Science majoring in Business Management and Marketing. My senior year of college I not only married the love of my life, I had a baby. Having her spurred me into finishing as strong and fast as possible. I was able to finish two years of college in 1 year, taking 21 credits one semester and 25 my second. It was crazy, but I’m so blessed and amazed that I was able to complete my degree. My second child blessed us with his presence just 15 months after our daughter.

Experience

After college I worked as a retail manager with Shopko and Staples traveling across Idaho and Montana as a General Manager and also an Assistant General Manger. After I left retail, I started working in radio sales, getting back to my true passions. I was offered a position with KPAX in their digital department where I was able to really learn so much about the digital world and the direction of advertising that had measurable results. Not every business fits into a box or has the same needs. I wanted to create an opportunity for businesses to have one agency that would create the marketing plan specific for their needs, not for the agency.

The Birth Of Vivid Marketing & Design

I employed at CBS (KPAX), with two little kiddos, working more than full time and both of my kids were becoming actively involved in school functions. We have this one moment in time with our kids, it goes by so quickly, I didn’t want to miss one more thing in their lives. I gave my notice and launched Vivid Marketing in the same month. The balance of family, work and life is hard. Some days I start working at 3am so I can make a soccer game, basketball game, concert, presentation or whatever they have going on. It’s been absolutely 100% worth it. I am a better mom when I’m working and I’m very proud of the young adults my kids are becoming.

Surviving The Pandemic

Ohhh Covid. There isn’t a small business in the world that didn’t struggle and fight to make it through Covid, Vivid Marketing is not an exception. Pre-Covid I had 4.5 full time employees and upwards of 30 accounts we managed across Montana and Idaho. It seemed that Vivid Marketing knew no limits or boundaries. Currently I am rebuilding Vivid Marketing just like the old days, 10 years ago, with just me, an idea and a dream. All marketing strategies and concepts had to be altered to keep my business open and my clients open as well. So far, all of the clients who kept me on during the pandemic (we all made compromises, financial payments and agreements) I am proud to say we’ve made it through to the other side and all are thriving.
